Approaching his 20th year in media, Bill is highly respected as a talented, insightful and forward thinking practitioner. Over this time period, Bill has worked in Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary.
With diploma in hand from the Marketing Management Program at BCIT, Bill began his career at Baker Lovick Vancouver in 1989. Over the next 3 years, Bill worked on accounts such as BC TEL, BC TEL Mobility and the BC Government agency-of-record assignment.
In early 1992, Bill moved to BBDO’s Toronto operations to gain exposure to some of Canada’s largest advertisers. During his 2½ year stint in Toronto, Bill wrote media plans and executed media buys for Chrysler, Gillette, Black & Decker, Wrigley’s and Dairy Queen.
Returning to Vancouver in late 1994, Bill’s efforts were once again focused on two of the largest media assignments in B.C. – B.C. TEL and the B.C. Government AOR. He also played a key role in the agency’s successful pitches for Alcan, Citizen’s Bank, MoneyMart and various projects from Molsons. He was rewarded for his efforts in October of 1996 with a promotion to the position of Associate Media Director.
In July of 1997, Bill accepted a position with Genesis Media as the Media Manager of its new west-coast operation. Outside of local accounts, Bill also managed the media buying for Genesis Toronto clients such as Staples, Volkswagen, Bauer and Xerox from Manitoba to BC.
Within 3 years of opening its doors, Genesis Media Vancouver was successful in winning both the Broadcast and Print Buying Assignments for Canada Safeway. Bill was instrumental in the buying, trafficking and processes developed to meet client needs.
In the Fall of 2000, Bill decided it was time for a well-deserved break and left Genesis Media as VP Western Canada to work as a consultant (mostly golf). Following a brief hiatus, Bill began working on a variety of contracts that included Enbridge, EPCOR, Alberta Libraries and Corus Entertainment.
In September of 2001, Bill accepted a contract with DSA Baron in Calgary working on the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and City of Calgary accounts. Enjoying his stay in Calgary, Bill accepted the position of General Manager & Media Director of DSA Baron in December 2001. Bill works diligently to ensure DSA Baron clients receive top notch service for their media planning and buying needs, and has been extremely successful in adding new clients to the ever increasing DSA Baron client roster.
Along with Bill’s managerial responsibilities, he currently manages the day-to-day needs for clients such as Fairmont Hotels – Alberta, ENMAX, ATB Financial, Calgary Stampede, ENBRIDGE and Carma Developers.
