Cheryl Baron is widely regarded as one of the finest media specialists in the country and while she has a lengthy career resume spanning some 30 years, she is best known as the entrepreneurial spark that created Baron Communications back in 1987. Starting with a dream to build a strong media brand in Western Canada, she steadily built her company into an 8-person shop servicing some of the best-known brand names in Western Canada, including Fairmont Hotels, Brewster Transportation, Totem Building Supplies, Cadillac Fairview, and the University of Calgary.
Prior to starting her own shop, Cheryl served as the Alberta Media Director at Intergroup Advertising, and her agency roots take her all the way back to her native Montreal, where she started her career at Vickers & Benson. Career highlights have included managing the Molson Breweries AOR in Western Canada, working with the Calgary Stampede, and media buying and planning for Miles Laboratories, Stelco and Standard Brands to name but a few.
Today she serves as a Managing Partner of DSA Baron, providing strategic council to various client projects and supporting the DSA Baron team in new business development, and financial management for the company.
Cheryl has been publicly recognized for her business building skills, first as a finalist for the Canadian Entrepreneur Awards in 1997, and as one of the top 30 Women Entrepreneurs in Canada, by both Chatelaine and Profit Magazines (1999 & 2000).
Cheryl and her husband Bob divide their time between their home in Calgary, and their "getaway residence" in Canmore Alberta.
